Students are excited about Rivendell’s annual Latin American Mercado, coming up on November 11th. This is one of many ways that Rivendell provides an opportunity for students to connect to and learn about other cultures. Students look forward to this tradition, as they enjoy practicing their Spanish skills in a setting that feels authentic. Older Kids work hard on their unique crafts to sell from cup coasters to beautifully painted pictures. They energetically call out to students who visit to purchase their goods. The phrase you hear when walking through the Mercado is, “¿Cuánto cuesta?” or “How much does it cost?” This is a great opportunity for all students to practice Spanish skills and experience the culture and customs. Students and teachers are encouraged to dress in Latin American attire for the market and fully immerse themselves in a live Mercado experience!
