I hope that your child learned some new techniques to try to help relieve stress during their recitation presentations. We have made classroom posters, so our kids can refer to these if they are feeling some stress at school.
Last week, the older kids had a chance to think about what they may want to do for their personal project at the end of the year. I would ask your child what they are thinking of studying for their project and brainstorm different possible topics. As we get closer to April, we will narrow down the topic and focus of that topic by thinking about what we already know and asking questions to guide our learning. We want to make sure the students are studying something they are curious about, and not something on which they are already an expert. They may think they would like to research one topic now, but they may change their mind when we start in April.
We are finishing up our novel study this week. Most of the kids enjoyed reading the same book so they could bounce ideas off of each other. We will be starting our new topic, plants this week. Later this week check out the OK bulletin board to see their staff interviews. It is fun to hear how excited the kids are about their science/engineering projects. We can’t wait to see the results.
We hope to see you on Saturday night for our annual spring fundraiser- Casino Royale. There will be casino games, a silent auction, and delicious hors d’oeuvres and beverages to enjoy. Each ticket includes 100 chips to use at various casino games. Please invite friends and family! If you bring a guest from outside of Rivendell, you will receive an extra 100 chips. You can buy tickets at the table in the entryway.
