We have another busy week. On Thursday, the 3rd graders will be spending the morning with us, so they can a get taste of older kids. We’ll have a full house! That evening, we have our meeting for 5th graders where they get to hear from former students who are now in 6th grade. If you have not notified us already, please let us know by Tuesday if your child is or is not attending. We need to buy drinks and order pizza, so we need a headcount.
Friday is Colorado History day. The whole school will spend the morning visiting different activities and speakers to experience some of the history of the Centennial State. We are encouraging students to dress in old time clothing: pioneer clothing such as long skirts, long pants, vests or cowboy attire such as jeans, plaid shirts, vests. The following week we will be heading to Centennial Village in a Greeley for our field trip. If you have not returned the permission slip AND $10, please do so as soon as possible.
Over the next two weeks we will spend as much time as possible working on our personal projects. Please check in with your child to see what kind of writings he/she plans to do. We are working on the opinion essay at school, but two more writings are required. Ask how your child plans to present and what else she/he will be including in the presentation: pictures, model, demonstration etc. Students should have a good idea of what they are doing; we have talked about this a lot both as a whole class and individually. Projects will be presented the final week of school.
Our annual Spring Clean event is approaching quickly! We invite families to join us on Saturday, May 4th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm to help spruce up the building and grounds. If you would like to come and help, all you need to do is just show up! There are plenty of jobs that need to be done. Please note: there is no child care provided. If you bring your children, they will need to stay with you. We also would like to borrow a few items to use: rakes, push brooms, ladders, shovels and a powerful power washer. If you are able to lend out these items for the day, please let Elisa know.
