Our building renovation is complete; next up is the parking lot. We are looking forward to improvements in safety, traffic flow and appearance with new pavement, islands, landscaping and striping. Work is currently planned for spring 2019.
We are thrilled to kick off the school year with a brand new exterior and entrance here at Rivendell! We would like to take a moment to send our enormous thanks to Sean Rogers with Hillside Construction and to Kelly Stahl, the project manager and former board president, for helping make this dream come true. Your hard work and efforts are greatly appreciated!
On Wednesday May 2, work will begin on the east side of the building. This is an exciting time, but it is also going to create some changes to the our normal parking, the entrance to the building, and the pick up line.
The front of the building will be fenced off. Parent parking will be on the north side of the building, and the pickup line will move to the east, with pickup and drop-off happening at the large playground gate.
The front doors will also be inaccessible, and entrance/exit from the building will be off the dock on the south side of the building.
Please see this map for more details. We appreciate your help and patience as we finish this part of the exterior construction. Thanks!
Our building permit was issued early April 2018 and construction is currently underway! All glass block on the west side was removed and replaced with storefront windows. Insulation is going in on the west, north and then east sides of the building before the new siding is installed. The old awning will come down in May and replaced with a shed roof and gutter system and new entryway over the main Rivendell entrance. We will update you with new routes in and out of the school as the date gets closer.
In late October, Rivendell closed on a $1.5 Million loan to refinance our debt with a local bank at a better rate. We were also able to borrow new funds needed for the exterior building improvements and some of the parking lot improvements. Due to bank delays and city processes, construction is slated for Spring 2018.
The Board approved the addition of the ADA ramp on the east entrance of the building.
We are working with the City of Fort Collins on revisions to proposed plan, and received a preliminary cost analysis of parking lot improvements.
Plans adjusted for right-of-way requirements for the City of Fort Collins and environmental report completed.
Submitted application and first set of plans to the City of Fort Collins. Negotiations conducted with several local banks on funding and addressed environmental study needs.
As the scope of the project increased, engaged with architectural and engineering firms to help us through the municipal regulations and planning a path toward project completion.
Hired an architect, analyzed the school's financials and began investigating a sound financial plan to complete the project.
Fundraising for exterior project began with the Spring Soiree. Money raised went to immediate needs of new, safer stairs from the dock to the playground and parking lot.
Parent surveys from the previous spring and fall showed the exterior facade was the most desired/popular capital improvement.
