Mark your calendars! The end of the year is fast approaching and there is lots of fun to be had!
Last week, the classes both went on nature walks and got to play on the playground in Edora park. The students worked hard at being good listeners and following instructions while walking as a group. The students used their senses to understand their surroundings. Some students heard the wind in the trees. Others saw the sun sparkling on the water of the creek. Students could smell the wet grass and feel the warm sun on their hair and faces. All of the students were polite and played nicely at the park. We were all very proud of them!
The preschoolers also had a wonderful time with the Earth Day celebrations. Nearly every student learned something new, or grew in confidence on their bike on Friday. All of the teachers were amazed to see how much the students have grown in their abilities and coordination over the course of the year. It was wonderful to watch, and heartening to see them listening and learning bike safety so intently. A great big thanks to Alison for helping plan and accomplish the amazing Earth Day events!
This week, we have a lot coming up as well! Tomorrow, Tuesday August 24th, is our Stone Soup Day. Students will need to bring the one ingredient they are responsible for on Tuesday morning, if it has not already been brought. In the morning, we will read the story of Stone Soup again and then let the children add their ingredients to our stones and water (vegetable broth for flavor). At the end of the day, students will have a chance to taste the soup they all helped make!
Our Stone Soup Day is to get the students excited about performing their musical! The students have been working all month in learning their songs and lines for this short play. The students will be rehearsing on Tuesday, performing for the students on Wednesday afternoon, and finally, performing for all parents and families on Friday morning at 9:00. Please have students at school by 8:30 at the latest so they can prepare to be onstage.
