I'm a native of Raleigh, NC and moved from the warm, sunny south to Fort Collins in June of 2014 with my husband. Although we miss the beaches and our families, we love it here. Any day I am outside enjoying Fort Collins' beautiful weather is a good one, however, the greatest part of my life here is the many wonderful people in it!

The opportunity to work at Rivendell is an enormous blessing for me. I love working as a school-wide team teaching young children valuable life lessons such as how to take responsibility for work, how to communicate needs with adults, how to advocate for themselves, how to problem solve with peers, how to take initiative when mistakes are made or time is lost and many more!

2nd and 3rd graders are hands-down the most fun grades to teach in Elementary School. This age loves to learn and brings an eager to please attitude to the classroom. I am especially passionate about math instruction - the concrete concepts lend themselves easily to visuals and manipulatives. I had a very engaging 3rd and 4th grade teacher who inspired a lifelong love of math in me. (Shout out to Mrs. Barkman!) It is so fun to watch the light bulbs go off when the students can visually see the concepts!

I love using color, design, music, and art to make a space aesthetically pleasing. My husband and I have done two home renovations together and love reaping the reward of such a huge project! We currently are working on a home with beautiful mountain views.

When I'm not teaching, I'm renovating our house. When I'm not doing either of those things, I am running the trails in the foothills or along the Poudre River, snowboarding at Winter Park or Steamboat, listening to music at the Swing Station, spending time with my little sister in Denver, or cooking up a big meal with friends and family.
