Chris Johnson is Rivendell School’s aftercare coordinator and preschool summer camp Director. In her aftercare coordinator role, Chris tries to ensure each child finishes their day feeling cared about, and that they are safe and having fun. During the summer, Chris designs preschooler activities that impart a sense of wonder within children, and generate excitement about their upcoming school lives.
As a teacher, Chris wants each child to have the best day they can, every day. She believes relationships to be foundational to all educational interactions and that if children know they are respected, they will feel comfortable and safe enough to grow.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Science degree in human development and family studies and a Master of Education degree in reading from Regis University. Chris has finished doctoral coursework and is ready to complete her dissertation for a Ph.D. in educational psychology.
When she’s not at Rivendell, Chris enjoys gardening, reading, rockhounding, fossil hunting, listening to the blues, and walking my dog. Chris also has many whimsical fairy gardens.
