I have been part of the Rivendell community since 2013, first as an extracurricular piano teacher and more recently as a summer camp and music teacher. I love Rivendell’s strong sense of community and its child-centered approach to education, where students are given the opportunity to learn, explore, and grow as individuals.

Music has been a large part of my life since I began studying and performing at age five. Although my degree is in History, music remained an important part of my education, and I have more than 20 years of experience teaching students through private piano and voice lessons and community theater. I am also continuing my education in speech-language pathology, which has expanded my knowledge of language, communication, child development, and inclusive teaching practices, as well as the ways music can support these important skills.

I believe, as music pedagogue Frances Clark said, “There is music in everyone. It is the teacher’s job to find it and nurture it.” I strive to give every student opportunities to build musical skills while being creative, making choices, experimenting, and discovering the music they love, with the goal of nurturing not just skilled students, but lifelong musicians who know that music is for everyone.

Outside of school, I love spending time with my husband, our three kids, and our two dogs. I love traveling and seeing the world, especially through road trips, and just about anything that gives me an opportunity to be creative, including art, crochet and knitting, writing, and especially photography.
