B.S. Environmental Education, Western Washington University

I am thrilled to be joining the Rivendell community. I have been working with children most of my life, in hopes and preparation for a position like this. I am the science and engineering teacher and math coordinator. I love watching kids “play” and eventually turn that exploration into understanding. To me all the cool things we adults do with kids usually relate to science. I plan to nurture your child’s sense of wonder and empower their engineering tendencies along with building big vocabulary.

My teaching experience is long and varied. Over the past 20 years, I have taught everything from pre-school and private Kindergarten, K-6 inner-city PE, Montessori and Democratic Schools to ESL, private K-8 multi-age classrooms, Environmental Education camps and homeschool science programs.

In 1998 I went to work at a camp in the woods on Orcas Island, Washington. This is where I fell in love with outdoor and Environmental Education. From there I moved to Bellingham and graduated in 2002 with a B.S. from Western Washington University. I earned a degree in Environmental Education and Curriculum Design and loved every minute of it!

I have lived in Fort Collins for four years with my peaceful husband, energetic boys ages 10 & 15 and loyal dog. We moved here to enjoy a bit of sunshine, climb a lot of mountains and be with our extended family. I am an avid weekend warrior and dabble in just about every sport providing adrenaline! I collect bones, tops, rocks and other science related stuff and would love to collaborate with anyone who likes big ideas!
