Why Grandfriends Day Matters

Grandfriends Day is on Thursday, April 17th at Rivendell School! Grandfriends Day at Rivendell is a special time to honor and celebrate the grandparents and grandfriends in our children’s lives. It's a heartfelt opportunity to acknowledge, appreciate, and celebrate all their incredible contributions and influences in our lives and the community at large.

Many of our community’s grandparents volunteer weekly, reading with students, helping them navigate the library, putting together end-of-year portfolios, and more! They also support school-wide events like Fun Fest and Field Day. They are absolutely essential to our community and pillars behind our mission of individualized education.

We also look forward to this special day because Grandfriends Day encourages intergenerational connection. Bringing together different age groups fosters understanding, empathy, and a stronger sense of family unity. These interactions create cherished memories that will be treasured for years to come.

Rivendell students will have the opportunity to do special projects with our community of grandparents and grandfriends, followed by a student-led tour to explore the school and see what makes Rivendell so special. Finally, they will enjoy a scrumptious breakfast together full of pastries and tasty treats!

Let's take this time to show our grandparents and grandfriends how much they are loved, valued, and remembered. Their legacy lives on through us, and celebrating them is a beautiful way to acknowledge that enduring connection.
