Weather Closure

Rivendell will be closed Tuesday, January 16 due to inclement weather. This includes all daycare, enrichment classes and meetings.

Back to School!

We can’t believe that the first day of school is coming up on August 23rd!  Between setting up classroom furniture, decorating the hallways, and organizing materials, our school is feeling more than ready for excited learners to enter the doorways!

To help families prepare for the year, here are some important reminders regarding drop-off procedures, aftercare, hot lunch options, and more.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures

Drop-off is from 8:00 to 8:30 am. You are welcome to walk your child into their classroom, but please be brief in dropping them off. The teacher will be in the classroom to provide direction and get the day started! You may also use the car lane for drop-off (and pick-up).  If so, have your child prepared with their belongings to head into the building.  At the start of the year, a staff member will be outside to guide them to where they need to be, but will not be helping them out of the car.  Preschool students need to be walked to the classroom and checked in/out everyday.

Pick-up is from 3:00 to 3:15 pm for preschool and at 3:20 pm for all other students.  If you choose to come in for pick-up (Pre-K - 5th grades), please wait in the library commons starting at 3:20 pm for your child until they are released. Do not wait by the classroom door. You are also welcome to utilize our outside pick-up line system. If you choose to use the pick-up line, please stay in your car, and a teacher will help your student get in the car safely. Be sure to follow the arrows in the parking lot as you head out and drive cautiously.

Hot Lunch

Rivendell School sells lunch tickets for $6.00 for students to order from various restaurants around town.  Orders are delivered to our school and served with a healthy side snack and milk.  Restaurants that cater to our school include Matador Burritos, Panhandler's Pizza, Noodles & Co, and Jason's Deli.  Stop by the front office to buy your ticket (simply provide a signature to bill to your account), fill out your order, and then place it in your child's teacher's bucket by the front office door.  Please have your order in by 8:45 am each day as we call it in before 9:00 am.

School and Teacher Communication

Don’t forget to check your email every Sunday afternoon for Rivendell’s school-wide newsletter.  This includes important announcements, when school is out, big events, fun projects around the school, and all kinds of information you’ll want to know!  Depending on which classroom you are in, your child’s teacher will send a class newsletter every Monday or Friday.  We encourage families to check their email regularly, and if you are not receiving newsletters, be sure to let the office staff know.  You are always welcome to email your child’s teacher with questions or concerns or set up a time to meet or chat over the phone.
