Curious Cats

Curious Kitties, come join us as we explore our curious feline friends! This fun-filled camp is for all curious kids who love cats—or just want to know more about them! Tracks ‘n’ Scat

Come join the fun as campers learn how to identify five animals of the Rocky Mountain Region through their tracks and scat. Kiddos will learn all about elk, mountain lion, bear, rattlesnake, and wolf by creating a field guide containing pertinent facts and characteristics of each animal. The Wonderful Wizarding World

Journey to Japan

Spend five fun-filled days on a journey to the Land of the Rising Sun. Campers will make their passports, plot their trip, and take a virtual tour of Japan via webcam. Kiddos will be introduced to the art of origami and haiku, traditional Japanese food using chopsticks, shibori (Japanese dyeing method), Kanji (pictographs) and Katakana (conversion of English name to Japanese), and participate in a dance ceremony called nihon buyo using traditional dress and materials. Let’s Find Out

Have you ever wondered how many bees are in a hive, how many times your heart beats in an hour or what jellyfish are made of? Let’s find out! This camp is for discovering the answers to things that we wonder about. Through research, experiments, and exploration, we’ll find out about all sorts of things! We’ll make lava lamps and learn about how real lava lamps are made. We’ll take a field trip to the Garbage Garage to see what happens to our garbage & recycling. We’ll also find out how to tell if water is healthy and what we can do about it by taking water samples at Edora Park. So join us as we learn through play and exploration! Register here.

The Art of Expression

The award-winning movies: Inside Out and Inside Out 2 helped children and adults understand a wide array of emotions, and the importance of each emotion. Play is a great way to help develop emotional awareness by allowing children to step into different characters, such as Joy, Anxiety, Sadness and Disgust to name a few. Skits provide a safe space to express and act out a wide range of emotions while learning empathy. Each day will focus on a specific emotion while using children’s books and lessons from Inside Out and Inside Out 2; short clips will be viewed to demonstrate. Two key elements of Camp will be respect and cooperation. Campers will create skits, crafts, and decorate cookies to assist with expression and by the end of camp will have seen all of Inside Out. Dino Discovery

Preschool Summer Camps

For ages 3 to 4
Cost: $80 per day

(3 days/week minimum for 5-day weeks, 2 days minimum for 4-day weeks)

We have a wide variety of summer activities planned. If your child has an interest in stories, art, games, creative movement, and exploration then Rivendell is the place. Our daily routine (details below) consists of theme related exploration and activities, free play, “circle time”, snack, outside play, lunch and nap.

Campers may sign up for 3, 4, or 5 days per week. You'll be able to see the days still available during registration.

Preschool students are ages 3 through 4 yrs. All classes are limited to 18 students per day, with at least one licensed teacher and a qualified full-time assistant.

Enrolling students must be completely toilet trained to attend camp. Preschoolers may not come to camp in diapers or pull-ups. Campers should bring a crib-size sheet, pillow, blanket, and change of clothing for emergencies.

Sculpture: Art and Engineering

Dog Days

Calling all dog lovers! This summer, your campers will have a howling good time at our “pawsitively” fun summer camp! Your little dog enthusiast will learn what it takes to take care of dogs, go to a real veterinarian, make dog crafts, and even act like a dog. Cycle City

Is your idea of summer fun getting out and about town on two wheels? Then Cycle City is for you! We will be headed on our bikes to bowl and explore science and history at The Discovery Museum. We'll also check out parks around town and enjoy a sweet treat at Dairy Queen. Register here.

All participants need to provide their own bicycle with at least 26" tires, have a helmet and bike lock, know how to use their gears and brakes, and be able to ride up to 8 miles/day. Activities are subject to change based on availability.

Extreme Challenge: Face Your Fears

Earn points and challenge yourself in this exciting Extreme Challenge camp! This camp is exclusively for kids who want to compete by facing common fears. We will face the fear of heights by doing a ropes course at Urban Air, we’ll challenge fears of the dark through a completely dark obstacle course, and we’ll have opportunities to experience unusual things (how many points would it take for you to eat a chocolate covered grasshopper?!). We’ll learn about common fears and phobias, challenge ourselves to take risks, learn to be understanding to those that have fears, and participate in friendly competition with a positive attitude.
